This article is up-to-date and is about the latest version of
windows 10 20H2 update; released on October 20,2020.
WHAT’S NEW IN
20H2 ?
1. In this newest OS version the “system” page in the control panel has been vanished. If you try to open it after the update, you’ll be redirected to the ‘About’ page in the Settings app.
But Don’t
worry!!!
All
the Information we found in the old style Control Panel is available in the
Settings app. There’s a convenient “Copy” button to copy all the text to your
clipboard, and you’ll even find buttons for opening advanced system settings
like BitLocker settings and Device Manager at the bottom of the page. The whole
Control Panel won’t vanish any time soon, as it has too many useful options.
2. Your Microsoft Edge Browser has turned to a Built-In App.
This is the first version of Windows 10 with the new,
Chromium-based Microsoft Edge browser included. The new Edge replaces the old
Edge in the baseline version of Windows 10. And also User Experience have
proven that New Edge version has drastically improved in speed.
3. Access Your Samsung Phone’s Android Apps on PC. If you have one of these phones, you can now access your phone’s Android apps directly on your Windows 10 PC. They’ll be running on your phone but you can launch, see, and interact with them on your Windows 10 desktop. Users are also reported it as an interesting feature.
*This feature builds a competition with the all new Huawei Mate Book series, which is a more highlighted feature in their introduction of these
devices to the market.
4. Improved Theme aware Tiles in the Start menu is also one of the minor updates in 20H2. Now, the tile background will be light or dark to match whichever Windows 10 theme you’re using—light or dark. But You can still get those tiles that match your theme back.
5. Windows 10 now shows Browser tabs in your Alt+Tab switcher. Thus, if you’re using several web pages at once, you can quickly find and switch between them just with Alt+Tab. Still if you dislike this feature you can turn it off anytime by just heading to the Settings in Browser.
6. You got free from Noisy Focus Assist Notifications which was a really distracting feature. In the spirit of not bugging you with notifications, Focus Assist pops up to show you a notification that hey, it’s not going to show you any notifications! And, when you’re done with your “focused” activity, Focus Assist pops up a summary of all the notifications it didn’t show you. But still you can re-enable them in settings as you wish.
7. Newly added Refresh Rate option in Settings. You can now change your PC’s refresh rate in the Settings app—without visiting the old Control Panel.
8. Automatic Tablet Mode Switching by Default. Now, Windows will automatically switch to the new tablet when you detach a keyboard in a 2-in-1 device; experience added in the May 2020 Update without the prompt or notification. You can still disable this feature anytime.
And also there are many minor changes in the recently released Windows 10 update which we are not going to discuss in further details as they are negligibly smaller upgrades/changes.
USER
EXPERIENCE ON NEW 20H2 WINDOWS UPDATE
According
to the users over the world who have already upgraded their PC from Windows
20H1 to 20H2 version, Most of them experience the same as old version when
comparing speed when Booting / Restarting the PC, opening apps. Actually they
said new version is quiet faster than old, But its negligibly small with the
fractional errors caused by humans and Hardware.
On
the other hand the very unusual thing they observed is Taking a longer time
when opening Photos and Movies & TV app in Windows 10, which might be a small
bug in this version.
Another special and interesting feature is, this new OS only requires
smaller space in C:Drive in Hard Disk when comparing with the Older version.
SHOULD YOU
UPGRADE TO 20h2 NOW ?
DO YOU NEED TO UPGRADE 20h2 ?
IS IT
NECESSARY TO UPGRADE 20h2 ?
DO YOU NEED
TO RUSH THE 20h2 UPGRADE ?
It's not necessary to upgrade to the newest version of
windows 10; 20h2 update. But it would be better to move to the latest version
when considering the security reasons as security patches. And also there are
no huge impacts / disadvantages of keeping your PC in the older version.
According to my point of view and considering all the facts came up from the date of release up to now, in a nutshell, You don’t need to rush into the Windows 10 20h2 update. Because still its not a longer time after the release of update. We have to leave the time to make Bugs and Engineers at Microsoft to make Bug fixes. It was very normal in every OS upgrade. So everything will be fixed and Microsoft will release a feature update soon (usually within 1-2 months), And thereafter you can Update to the Latest 20h2 version fearlessly.
